50 Cent - Jay-Z Was Nothing Before He Married Beyoncé

Rapper 50 Cent, who topped the 2008 Forbes Hip Hop Cash King List, dissed Jay-Z recently, saying that Jay’s marriage to Beyoncé Knowles is the reason why he’s well known internationally.
Fiddy says, “I’m a big fan of Jay-Z, but outside of the States and hip-hop circles, no one really knew who he was until he married Beyonce.”
He also commented on the fact that Jay-Z is rumored to be worth a billion dollars. Seemingly bitter, 50 says “I don’t believe he’s worth that much! It’s all been exaggerated. I’m comfortable. I don’t want for anything so I’m not in a race.”
I don’t know how famous or unfamous Jay-Z was across the globe before he married Beyoncé, so I’ll leave that matter alone, but I do have to ask, does it matter? Even if what 50 says is true, why does he feel the need to mention that? He’s obvioulsy just trying to rain on Jay’s parade. I actually like 50, but I am tired of him just saying random insulting stuff about people. Your thoughts?

My thoughts? 50’s a Jay-Z stan who can’t keep “Jay-Z” out of his mouth in 9 out of 10 interviews. Jay was huge overseas before it was common knowledge he and Bey were an item let alone before 50’s wack ass dropped an album. Bey and Jay JUST GOT MARRIED IN APRIL! He was doing international shows well before that. Now, did Bey make him more appealing to the mainstream, sure, but she for damn sure didn’t make him. If anything, he made her. She wasn’t very liked b/c of the DC drama, but when she got with Jay on ‘03 B&C and CIL, it was a wrap for her superstardom. So, they each other what they are today in a sense.
As far as his money, he’s right. Jay isn’t worth a billion, but no one (not even Jay) ever said he was, so why say that? I think he’s just hating on Jay as usual because Jay’s got more money, more fame, and Bey (whom 50 tried to get with but Bey shut his ass down with the quickness). Either that, or he’s mad because the only reason he had a little buzz in the 2000’s before his deal with Em and Dre was because JAY CALLED HIS ASS OUT FOR TALKING RECKLESS when he rapped “I’m about a dollar what the f*ck is 50 Cent?” CLASSIC and 50 apparantly hasn’t gotten over Jay owning him 8 years ago. LOL

50 is obviously sour that Jay is much more well-known and respected than he is. And i don’t agree with what he said about Jay not being as well-known until he married Bey. I think Jay became well-known internationally because of all that he’s accomplished. The many sold out concerts. The album sells. And not to mention how he’s had 11 #1 albums (think it’s 11). His very successful 40/40 clubs located in major cities. Not only is Jay one of music’s greatest selling artist, but he was also President of Def. Jam. Jay is the man…PERIOD. And yes, him being married to Bey does help, but Jay has major status alone. What other Hip-Hop rapper could sell out Madison Square Garden in a day?

Brit, I agree. I have a hard time believing that someone as successful as Jay-Z would not be well known internationally. 50 likes to create problems where they don’t need to be started. It’s extremely immature and slightly tiring.

Well said, Queen Dee. 50’s arrogance comes across as stupidity. I mean, the few months of marriage to Beyonce doesn’t measure up to the years of success Jay has had. Someone needs to shut 50 up…seriously.

fifty never has anything good to say about anybody, allthough i big him for his fast climb to his top, he and game the same way, i mean really obey king 50, right now his rhimes wack, i mean jay-z practically made 50 by mentioning and further more i live in trinidad a tiny island of venuezuela and i have been a fan of jigga since 1999 and that still late. 50 was popular for gangster rap and actually influenced the rta of crime in my country and modes of killing, if he thinks it cool to be known for that then he sad, jigga known for flow, swag and money, as he said jocking jz jock jocking jz!!!!

how much he worth is his business and we know plenty of that is drug money so i don’t get caught up but last i heard he is 600m, fifty just hating but game is the worst!!!! in a recent interview he was like he is the greatest rapper but doh mind being second to weezy, while weezy begging not be forgotten when you mention big pac and jz, give jack the jacket in total perspective jigga is the boss, good or bad, even nas working for him
