Beyoncé To Play Nun in “Sister Act” Movie?

July 6, 2009 by Lauren Croteau

It sounds like we just might be seeing a remake of the 1992 version of the film “Sister Act” sometime soon. This time, replacing Whoopi Goldberg, who played Sister Mary Clarence would be Beyoncé Knowles. Apparently, ever since seeing the musical live, Beyoncé is trying to work with Disney to see if they can pump out a 2011 remake.

A source says of the possible remake, “Beyonce has asked her representatives to persuade Disney to develop the show into a film vehicle for her.”

The source continues, “If this comes to pass, she would take on, in musical form, the part Whoopi Goldberg creates in the 1992 ‘Sister Act’ film, although the stage version moves the action from the West Coast to Philadelphia.”

Well, um, that would be certainly be interesting. I don’t really see a need for remake of the film version of the musical, but that’s just my opinion. I just don’t see something like that being successful. Plus, Beyoncé as a nun?! Something tells me that just doesn’t work together ;) .  What do you guys think? Should Beyoncé star in the remake for this film?

I love Beyonce and everything she does. She has proven she can Act, however, I am sick of Hollywood Producers and Directors making re-makes of movies -it’s just down right boring. Today, people need fresh and interesting movies because we are in a recession and to pay to see Entertainment – it better be above good! Give Beyonce a movie with action and something new, even if it isn’t coming out til 2011.
