Beyoncé Accepts Awards at 2009 BET Awards - Videos
June 29, 2009 by Lauren Croteau
Last night Beyoncé “Sasha Fierce” Knowles was in attendance at the 2009 BET Awards (see her red carpet photos here) and was hoping to win a few awards. Luckily for her, the singer walked away with two of them! Her first award was for Female R&B Artist of the Year. Bey was up against Keyshia Cole, Keri Hilson, Jennifer Hudson and Jazmine Sullivan. During her acceptance speech for this award she took the time to thank Michael Jackson for inspiring her to be who she is now. On a lighter note, Jamie Foxx came up to her right after she was done and told her to follow him. He sat her down and she looked so scared and confused. I think all he wanted to show her was that Jay-Z’s performance was coming up.
Then, she accepted the award for Video of the Year for her “Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It)” video! Yay! Of course it had to win! No other music video in the past year has had the effect on people that hers has. She deserved it. Congrats to her for walking out of there with two awards! Take a look at her acceptance video below!

Jay-Z Performs “Death of Auto-Tune” at the 2009 BET Awards

Rap star, Jay-Z attended the 2009 BET Awards last night, where he performed his new controversial hit single, “D.O.A. (Death of Auto-Tune)” off of his much anticipated album, “The Blueprint 3.” He did a great job, as did his wife Beyoncé during her performance of “Ave Maria” and “Angel” in a tribute to Michael Jackson.
I loved how they kept showing Bey enjoying herself while her husband performed. It was too cute! At the end of the song, Jay-Z made a shout-out to MJ, the King of Pop, who died this week at age 50. He says, “Rest in peace to the king.” Check out the video below:
Beyoncé Performs “Ave Maria” and “Angel” at BET Awards in Memory of Michael Jackson
June 29, 2009 by Lauren Croteau
The 2009 BET Awards were bittersweet event as artists were recognized for their work as they mourned the loss of possibly the best artist in African-American history, Michael Jackson. Michael, who likely inspired everyone in the room, passed away this week at the age of 50. In memory of him, Beyoncé Knowles sang “Ave Maria” and “Angel.” Bey has worn the costumes that she wore on stage tonight throughout every show of her “I Am…” Tour.
As can be expected, Bey sounded great. You could definitely here some of the emotion she had towards the end of the song. I can”t imagine singing a song in dedication to Michael Jackson. I think that’d be hard for most people who appreciate him. Here is the video:
Beyoncé on the Red Carpet at the 2009 BET Awards
June 29, 2009 by Lauren Croteau
Yesterday, the 2009 BET Awards were held at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California. Beyoncé Knowles hit the red carpet and boy was she ever looking colorful. I’m not liking it much at all. In a way I found it all too much, while at the same time it was too little. I do like that she was showing off her body and embracing what she’s got, but I would have chosen something a little less short and a little less overwhelming. What did you think? Was Bey rocking it on the red carpet tonight?

Beyoncé Wins Kids Choice Award!
March 29, 2009 by Lauren Croteau
Beyoncé Knowles won at the 2009 Kid’s Choice Awards last night! Congratulations to her! The category she won for was Favorite Song with her hit “Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It)”.
She was up against Barbadian beauty, Rihanna for her chart topper “Don’t Stop the Music” and Katy Perry for her smash hit single “I Kissed a Girl”. I’m happy Bey won! I would not have been thrilled if the award had gone to Katy Perry. Not a big fan of hers…
Beyoncé Nominated for MTV Australia Awards
February 21, 2009 by Lauren Croteau
Our dear Beyoncé Knowles has been nominated for two 2009 MTV Australia Awards! Take a look at what she’s nominated for and who she’s up against below.
BEST VIDEO
- Beyonce - Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)
- Flo Rida feat. T-Pain - Low
- Lady GaGa - Poker Face
- P!nk - So What
- Kings of Leon - Sex On Fire
BEST MOVES
- Pussycat Dolls - When I Grow Up
- Chris Brown - Forever
- Beyonce - Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)
- Madonna feat. Justin Timberlake - 4 Minutes
- Britney Spears – Circus
Those are some pretty tough competitors. She worked really hard in the “Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It)” video. The whole thing was taken in one shot, so I hope she wins for Best Moves. Her dancing has improved so much since she first started out. I just hope Chris Brown doesn’t win…As for Best Video, we might see Pink snatch that one.
Who do you think will win?
