Beyoncé To Play Nun in “Sister Act” Movie?
July 6, 2009 by Lauren Croteau
It sounds like we just might be seeing a remake of the 1992 version of the film “Sister Act” sometime soon. This time, replacing Whoopi Goldberg, who played Sister Mary Clarence would be Beyoncé Knowles. Apparently, ever since seeing the musical live, Beyoncé is trying to work with Disney to see if they can pump out a 2011 remake.
A source says of the possible remake, “Beyonce has asked her representatives to persuade Disney to develop the show into a film vehicle for her.”
The source continues, “If this comes to pass, she would take on, in musical form, the part Whoopi Goldberg creates in the 1992 ‘Sister Act’ film, although the stage version moves the action from the West Coast to Philadelphia.”
Well, um, that would be certainly be interesting. I don’t really see a need for remake of the film version of the musical, but that’s just my opinion. I just don’t see something like that being successful. Plus, Beyoncé as a nun?! Something tells me that just doesn’t work together ;). What do you guys think? Should Beyoncé star in the remake for this film?

Beyoncé Nominated at 2009 Teen Choice Awards!
June 16, 2009 by Lauren Croteau
The 2009 Teen Choice Awards are coming up soon and the nominees were just released yesterday. Great news for Beyoncé: she’s been nominated seven times! Some of the nominations are in the music section while the others are in the movie section, which is because her movie “Obsessed” is up for an award.
I’m not too hopeful that “Obsessed” will win because it’s up against the latest, phenomenon: “Twilight.” However, I think she has a great shot in most of her other music nominations. Especially for Choice R&B Track. Her song “Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It)” has been everywhere! Do you guys have predictions?
Tune in to see the 2009 Teen Choice Awards on August 10th 8pm EST. If you’re a teen and you haven’t submitted your vote, make sure you register and tell them what you think!

Beyoncé Talks About “Obsessed” and Spending Time with Family
June 1, 2009 by Lauren Croteau
Before the release of her movie “Obsessed” a lot of people didn’t know Beyoncé could play a role that required her not to sing or dance. However, in April, when “Obsessed” was released people rushed to see her performance in the film. This was apparent at the box office when the movie grossed $67.5 million! Beyoncé says it was a challenge for her but that it was definitely the time to do something different. ![]()
She explained, “I really felt it was time to step out of that comfort zone and go into some of the more dramatic roles.”
She also spoke about what made the movie interesting to watch. "This, I think, is so great because it has different textures. It starts off really charming, in a perfect relationship, then you see the suspicion and you see the anger and rage."
She was also asked by More! magazine about spending time with her family. She explains, “I’m a family person and pretty traditional, so whenever I can, I spend time with my family”.
On her mama’s cooking, she says, “I try to go to Houston every chance I get. It’s a treat to enjoy my mother’s cooking — she’s a great cook!”
I’ve got to agree with her. I’m glad we got to see a whole new side of her that we’d never seen before. I really think that was what was so appealing about the film. And no doubt, I’m sure her mother, Tina Knowles makes some great southern food!

Hugh Jackman Says He’d Love to Do a Musical with Beyoncé
May 8, 2009 by Lauren Croteau
Hugh Jackman, who’s movie “X Men Origins: Wolverine" was released on May 1st, says he’d like to star in a musical alongside singer and actress, Beyoncé Knowles.
In an interview with Extra, Mario Lopez asked if there was a plan for a possible musical with Beyoncé in the future. Jackman responds, "Me and Beyoncé. I will do anything. I am the one talking up all those rumors. And Mario, maybe you can be in it too, buddy!"
Baz Luhrmann, who directed the musical number that Bey and Hugh did during the 2009 Oscars, has already said a musical with the two would be fantastic.

Beyoncé to Play Eartha Kitt on the Big Screen?
May 4, 2009 by Lauren Croteau
Hey everyone! How was your weekend? I’ve got some news here for you today! Beyoncé has reportedly revealed that she is in talks to star in a biopic
about the legendary Eartha Kitt. After playing the role of Diana Ross in “Dreamgirls” (2006) and Etta James in “Cadillac Records” (2008) I guess Bey’s hungry again to play the role of a diva!
Beyoncé talks about the potential role, “I was going to do a film about Eartha Kitt. It’s a great story, but I don’t know if it’s still happening. If it does, it’ll just fall into place.”
Unfortunately, Eartha Kitt passed away on Christmas Day in 2008 after a long battle with colon cancer.
Hm. I don’t know about this Bey. For me, the first time she did one of these movies, it was exiting. The second time, it was exciting but no as much as the first. And now, it’s kind of getting a bit old. I want to see something new. I think that’s why so many people went to see “Obsessed”!

Ali Larter Talks About “Obsessed” Fight Scene With Beyoncé
April 28, 2009 by Lauren Croteau
MTV got around to speaking with Ali Larter, co-star to Beyoncé Knowles in the 2009 movie “Obsessed.” The movie follows the lives of a wife (Beyoncé) and her husband (Idris Elba) after a temp at his work (Ali Larter) begins to
stalk him.
Describing the fight scene, she says, "We went for it like, ‘You clock, I clock.’ A little head-butting, some kicks in there — we went for it. We got bruised up. We spent a week shooting it."
She praises singer Beyoncé, "[Beyoncé's] amazing. She did it in four-inch heels."
Larter spoke about her own role in the movie. "You have to believe that what she’s doing in her head is completely rational. Even though it may seem crazy to the outside world, to her she’s falling in love with this man and he’s giving her signals. She really sees them and believes that they’re meant to be together. Her behavior asks the question, ‘How far will you go for love?’ "
I’m sure it must have been fun for the both of them to do the whole cat fight scene. I’m sure it was just another fight for Ali to put down in her books since she stars on the show “Heroes.” There’s a lot of action going on there!

Beyoncé Not Ready To Be a Mom, Talks About Movie “Obsessed”
April 28, 2009 by Lauren Croteau
Alright, I’m getting a bit tired of all these people harassing Beyoncé about when she’s going to have a baby. Most recently, MTV spoke to her at the junket for her movie “Obsessed” and they asked her if playing a mother in
the film made her want to have a baby in the near future.
Her response is what it usually is when people ask her this question, "Well, I think I definitely want to be a mother one day. And I will be — God willing — but not really [right now]. I didn’t really get the little urge [from playing a mom]. It was more like, ‘God, this is a lot of work.’ "
They then changed the subject and asked her about what it was like to film the fight scene with Ali Larter in the film. She replies, "I had so much fun, because I’m a lover — I’m not a fighter. But I got to fight!"
She elaborates, "Every time I play a character, I’m thinking about things that will bring out the rage or whatever emotion is necessary. I think about those things in my own life."
Hopefully, all of the questions about babies isn’t pushing her too far away from it. Having a baby is a really private thing and people should respect that. When or if she wants to have a baby, she will – when she’s ready. I’m sure she’s under enough pressure with her family as well.

Beyoncé’s “Obsessed” Gets #1 at the Box-Office!!
April 27, 2009 by Lauren Croteau
Yay!! Beyoncé’s movie “Obsessed” was released on April 24th and it topped the weekend box-office chart. Guess how much the movie raked in? A whopping $28.5 million!
The film beat out the second week of the movie “17 Again” starring Zac Efron which took in $11.7 million to finish as the runner-up for this weekend. In third place came “Fighting”, starring Channing Tatum, bringing in $11.4 million. Finishing the weekend in fourth place was “The Soloist” starring Jamie Foxx which finished the weekend with a sum of $9.7 million.
President of the distribution for Sony Pictures, Rory Bruer explained why “Obsessed” must have done so well. She was heard saying, "There’s something about wanting to see Beyoncé kick butt. She’s taking on one wacked chick, played very well by Ali Larter. Let’s face it, everyone loves Beyoncé, and to see her in this role is a treat."
The movie cost about $20 million to make, so now they’ve already made a surplus and “Obsessed” is just in it’s first week! The film follows a family man (Idris Elba) and his wife (Beyoncé Knowles), who’s lives are turned upside down when he gets stalked by an obsessive temp at his work (Ali Larter).

Beyoncé at Premiere for “Obsessed” – Pics & Video
April 24, 2009 by Lauren Croteau
Beyoncé arrived in a strapless black sequined dress at the premiere for her new movie “Obsessed” along with her co-stars Idris Elba and Ali Larter in New York yesterday. The event was hosted by the Cinema Society and MCM and pictures were taken outside of the School of Visual Arts. Bey definitely looked sexy and dramatic last night. The dress is a little too short for my taste, but I think she worked it out.
The movie “Obsessed” is in theaters today!! Will any of you be seeing it?
I’ve got some video here of the diva being interviewed by FOX5 and some pictures for your enjoyment. They do a close up of her wedding ring in the video!
