Jay-Z’s “Death of Auto-Tune” Music Video!

June 30, 2009 by Lauren Croteau

The music video for Jay-Z’s single, “D.O.A (Death of Auto-Tune)” premiered right after the 2009 BET Awards on Sunday. Hova plays  the cool Hip Hop boss in the video who runs everything. Suits him well, I think! It’s a rather simple music video, but likeable. Making cameo appearances in the video are actor Harvey Keitel and NBA star player, LeBron James. This song is off of Jay’s album, “The Blueprint 3” which has an aimed release date for September 11th. The controversial lyrics in the song have gotten a lot of rappers talking.

DJ Khaled had this to say, “It’s an amazing record. Jay-Z is one of the best in the game. Shout to Jay-Z for shouting me out [on the record]. I salute that, you feel me? I mean, music is music, you know what I’m saying? He ain’t dissing nobody, he’s just saying it’s overdone. He shouted brothers like T-Pain that’s supposed to do it.”

While Soulja Boy said,That’s a crazy track. I know it’s gon’ stir up a lot of controversy, but Jay-Z is one of the best so a lot of people gon be tuned into it, man. I don’t know what to say about that one. If people [will] stop using it, I don’t know, man? T-Pain, his whole thing is Auto-Tune, so you asking you think it’ll end T-Pain’s career?”

Beyoncé Accepts Awards at 2009 BET Awards - Videos

June 29, 2009 by Lauren Croteau

Last night Beyoncé “Sasha Fierce” Knowles was in attendance at the 2009 BET Awards (see her red carpet photos here) and was hoping to win a few awards. Luckily for her, the singer walked away with two of them! Her first award was for Female R&B Artist of the Year. Bey was up against Keyshia Cole, Keri Hilson, Jennifer Hudson and Jazmine Sullivan. During her acceptance speech for this award she took the time to thank Michael Jackson for inspiring her to be who she is now. On a lighter note, Jamie Foxx came up to her right after she was done and told her to follow him. He sat her down and she looked so scared and confused. I think all he wanted to show her was that Jay-Z’s performance was coming up.

Then, she accepted the award for Video of the Year for her “Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It)” video! Yay! Of course it had to win! No other music video in the past year has had the effect on people that hers has. She deserved it. Congrats to her for walking out of there with two awards! Take a look at her acceptance video below!

Jay-Z Performs “Death of Auto-Tune” at the 2009 BET Awards

June 29, 2009 by Lauren Croteau

Rap star, Jay-Z attended the 2009 BET Awards last night, where he performed his new controversial hit  single, “D.O.A. (Death of Auto-Tune)” off of his much anticipated album, “The Blueprint 3.” He did a great job, as did his wife Beyoncé during her performance of “Ave Maria” and “Angel” in a tribute to Michael Jackson.

I loved how they kept showing Bey enjoying herself while her husband performed. It was too cute! At the end of the song, Jay-Z made a shout-out to MJ, the King of Pop, who died this week at age 50. He says, “Rest in peace to the king.” Check out the video below:

Beyoncé Performs “Ave Maria” and “Angel” at BET Awards in Memory of Michael Jackson

June 29, 2009 by Lauren Croteau

The 2009 BET Awards were bittersweet event as artists were recognized for their work as they mourned the loss of possibly the best artist in African-American history, Michael Jackson. Michael, who likely inspired everyone in the room, passed away this week at the age of 50. In memory of him, Beyoncé Knowles sang “Ave Maria” and “Angel.” Bey has worn the costumes that she wore on stage tonight throughout every show of her “I Am…” Tour.

As can be expected, Bey sounded great. You could definitely here some of the emotion she had towards the end of the song. I can”t imagine singing a song in dedication to Michael Jackson. I think that’d be hard for most people who appreciate him. Here is the video:

It seems like this is going to be one fierce music video. I cannot wait to see what the final product is going to be like!

The song is the sixth released single off of Bey’s album “I Am…Sasha Fierce” and is currently used for an ad in Japan for Crystal Geyser water.

June 16, 2009 by Lauren Croteau

Not to long ago, the music video for Beyoncé’s new single “Ego” was released  and now the official music video for the remix, which features Kanye West was released. It’s basically just the original video with a little bit of Kanye at the beginning.

In other news, Alexandra Burke of the “X-Factor” is supposed to be joining Beyoncé on tour later this year. An insider says,  “Alex and Beyonce have become great friends since meeting on X Factor. When Beyonce asked her to hook up on the tour, Alex jumped at the chance." Wow, Alexandra must be super excited!

Beyoncé Performs “If I Were a Boy” With George Michael in London - Video

June 11, 2009 by Lauren Croteau

Fans who paid to see Beyoncé perform at the O2 Arena in London, England got treated to a special bonus as George Michael got up on stage! The two if them joined together to sing Bey’s hit single “If I Were a Boy” and the crowd went wild for it.

Controversial singer, Katy Perry was in the audience and says of the show, “Beyonce is a living legend, this is true. I might have seen one of the best shows I ever saw tonight.”

They sounded good together and George still looks great after all of these years! I’m jealous! As if I already wished I was there, they had to throw George Michael into the mix. Not fair! :) Enjoy the video!

Jay-Z Performs at Summer Jam 2009 – Video

June 8, 2009 by Lauren Croteau

Rap genius, Jay-Z made a surprise appearance at the 2009 Summer Jam in East Rutherford, New Jersey. He performed his newly released single, “D.O.A. (Death of Auto-Tune)” with T-Pain coming out and standing on the stage with him.

Jay-Z spoke about the anti-auto-tune song, "The guys who did it, did it great. T-Pain, he does great melodies. If you listen to Kanye, great melodies. If you listen to [West's] ‘Say You Will’ or ‘Heartless,’ great melodies. [Lil Wayne and T-Pain's] ‘Lollipop’ was a fantastic melody. Everybody can’t do it. Let them guys do it. They got their little niche, let’s move on. That’s just my opinion. I don’t know if everybody feels the same way."

I’ll tell ya, this song is growing on me. I’m starting to really like it. Check out Jay-Z’s performance of “D.O.A”  below!

David Guetta Ft. Kelly Rowland “When Love Takes Over” Music Video

June 5, 2009 by Lauren Croteau

Below is the video for David Guetta and Kelly Rowland’s music video for “When Love Takes Over.” The dance song is a track off of Guetta’s fourth album “One Love” and was produced by him as well as Fred Rister. Kelly also helped write it.

The video’s interesting.  It looks like they must have had some fun filming it. David Guetta says of the video, "You see Kelly walking her path, her story and me on the other side. They share that love and share it with the other people to make that big party."

What do you guys think of the song? I like how it really shows Kelly’s range. I’m not a fan of the actual song but I’m happy that Kelly is having success with it.
