Def Jam Exec Commits Suicide

According to MTV, Shakir Stewart, the successor of Jay-Z’s VP position at Def Jam Records, was found dead in his Georgia home on Saturday. Atlanta police say he was discovered in the bathroom with self inflicted gun shot wounds.
Michelle Rivers, Shakir’s fiancée, released a joint statement with his family saying, “over the past several weeks, Shakir’s behavior was inconsistent with the man we all know and love. As much as we all tried to help him, Shakir was in deep pain and largely suffering in silence.”
It’s always sad to hear this kind of thing. My condolences go out to his family and fiancée.
