Kelly Rowland Signs Copies of Sims 2: Castaway

I have to admit, I had not paid too much attention to the Sims games until recently. I always liked SimCity and stuff like that but my friend writes a really cool Sims Gamer blog and after spending a day looking at her posts, I went out and bought a copy of the game (go with the PC version if you get it because the Playstation one has been problematic for me - none of my games save properly!).
I was surprised to find out that Kelly Rowland was involved with Sims 2: Castaway but I think it’s pretty cool, actually. Apparently, she’s a big fan of the Sims games and, when EA Games found out about it, they started pushing her as their “secret celebrity fan.”
I did laugh, however, when I read this article:
Given that she also performed at an EA sponsored concert on Thursday, you’d have every right to believe she’s just a frontin’ fan to cash a quick check. Asked to submit questions for an EA online interview, going up in a week or so, one person said exactly that.. “How much do EA pay you so you would act as if you really like the Sims?”
EA’s Community and Support Manager answered .. “She really is a huge Sims fan.”
And guess who is claiming responsibility for putting her on to the game?
This past June, Amerie told gaming site Kotaku, “I am addicted to The Sims. I live out a virtual life online. I think it’s seriously cool, but I guess it’s kind of dorky… I’ve got Kelly Rowland into it too, and now we hook up in the game. Beyonce tried to join us, but she wasn’t into it.”
This one Sims fan did say something kinda rough, though:
“It’s publicity really, I mean I hadn’t heard of her before, now I have.”
Ouch!!!! Poor Kelly. Well, maybe this will bring her a whole different set of fans.
