Kelly Rowland Wished She Was “White”

Yeah, you read that correctly. It’s so sad. I never struggled with that (though I resented other people’s ignorance) but I know a lot of people who did and it broke my heart. Kelly Rowland has revealed that when she was growing up, she dreamed of being white because she thought it would give her a better chance of success. I’m glad to hear that Beyoncé’s mom was there for her, though.
The 26-year-old still feels black performers have an unfair disadvantage in the entertainment industry, but has learned to appreciate her own beauty with the help of former bandmate Beyoncé Knowles’ mum.
Rowland says, “It’s said that brown-skinned girls don’t sell magazines, that’s sad. I wished I was fair-skinned, but Tina Knowles, Beyonce’s mom, said, ‘Don’t you know how beautiful you are?’”
“She made me come into my brown beauty. I didn’t get it, now I do.”
“I am chocolate and beautiful and loving it.”

Kelly and all other darker complection women. I feel your pain, I go to the clubs with my lighter skinned and mixed friends and become invisible. A guy told me one day I was beautiful for a brown skin girl. I was so hurt, because I know I am beautiful regardless of my complextion. The men and media in this world send mixed messages to females. I am glad that my parents taught me to love me at an early age, but some of us are not as fortunate to have that. Screw all the haters, its so funny tha most important thing I learned in college was I can only please me! Anything else is uncivilized. Kelly with that said “girl do you, black, white, purple or orange, you have a beautiful voice that was a talent given to you.

Some people are just ignorant. I am a beautiful dark skin female and I love the skin I was born with. I have never had no problem because I love me first. It’s that slavery mentality that keeps people of color discriminating against eachother so why should anyone else respect us.
