Malaysia Asks Beyoncé To Tone It Down

Beyoncé has been warned by Malaysian officials to tone down her concert performance when she visits the country later on this year. Here’s the story:
Students in the predominantly Muslim country threatened to boycott a recent concert Gwen Stefani performed in the south east Asian nation, because of her raunchy reputation.
Now Knowles’ concert organisers have told her to cover up onstage when she performs there in November - just days after she accidentally flashed her chest at a gig in Toronto, Canada.
Razlan Ahmad Razali, the chairman of Pineapple Concerts, says, “We’ve informed Beyonce’s management about this issue of clothes, but it takes some of the fun out of it.
“Beyonce won’t be able to do the kind of show here that she does elsewhere. “She’s a fashion icon, and we know that she often wears miniskirts and clothes that expose her navel during her performances. It’s a pity to restrict her, because her costumes are all tasteful and glamorous.”

I was at Beyonce’s veggas concert last night and it rocked and it was my first concert!
And if the malations or whatever want that, then they should just be happy she is flying over there.

I hope you had a great first concert. That must have been so fun!
I think that since it is their country, they should be able to make restricitions because that is their beleif. They should be able to have a fun performance from Beyonce without having to worry that she’ll pop a nipple out. If Beyonce is willing to go into their country, she should be willing to make some changes. Different countries have different morals and anyone willing to go into their “turf” should be respectful.
By the way Beyonce dresses sometimes, I occasionally wish that the same dress code rules would apply in North America ;)

Beyonce’s Malaysian fans honestly would love to see her wear her normal stage costumes.
It’s just that we have these (deleted) people in authority who want to impose their version of ‘morality’ on everyone else, under the excuse of not wanting to corrupt the nation’s youth.
Whatever it is, we’re still glad Beyonce is coming! I’m sure it’s going to be a great concert no matter what she wears (or doesn’t ;) )

yea.. i’m a chinese from Malaysia and i see this issue very openly. no matter if there is any tiddies revealing on the coming 1th of November or not . i will just enjoy the show same like i did 21th of August in Gwen’s concert

im Mats.. a Muslim-Malay open minded from Malaysia…i usually went oversea to c Western artists do their tour like in Hong Kong (Avril Lavigne) n Singapore (Christina Aguilera)
i totally agree with all the comments…
its up to the authoriry set up da guidelines… sumtimes da rules are good, sumtimes too strict n bad…
btw, all Malaysian can still enjoy like Gwen Stefani did amaze all the audience last August 21…i went to da concert in Bukit Jalil, KL n it was totally awesome!!
the costumes is not important…
the thing is how the artists will show their professionality in entertain ppl in different country that have different cultures n values… =)
i hope Beyonce can asks n learn from Gwen Stefani if she doubt bout da rules in Malaysia.. ^_^…
i prefer go Singapore if want c sexy artists like Rihanna… =)
