Beyonce Knowles made a stop at a rehab centre, but not for the reason that most might think. The R&B singer and actress reportedly visited the centre to do research for her upcoming movie role as Etta James in “Cadillac Records.”
“I never tried drugs in my life so I didn’t know about it all, It was hard to go there. In the beginning I didn’t want to offend anyone, I didn’t want to ask the wrong questions or seem judgmental. They were so honest, though, and I am so thankful. I don’t think I could have understood that level of pain or need. What they do there is amazing. I learned a lot about life and myself.”
Bey also tried very hard to make sure she got everything right about Etta so she worked endlessly to learn all that she possibly could. “I read Etta’s book and watched every video of her I could find. I wanted to do her justice. She’s a real woman that had guts and was unapologetic. . . . I wanted to have the swollen eyes and the veins in my face too. I wanted to make it real.”
Well, I’m excited to see how all that research will turn out. Hopefully, Bey will make Etta proud.
Last night, Beyoncé Knowles performed her new singles “Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It)” and “If I Were a Boy” on “Saturday Night Live“. Also, Justin Timberlake joined Beyoncé in a skit last night doing a parody of the “Single Ladies” music video. It was absolutely hilarious! Check out the videos below!
The lovely Beyoncé Knowles was graciously welcomed to the Oprah Show yesterday where she talked about living the glamorous life, being “Sasha Fierce”, playing Etta James and even marriage! It was such a cute interview and Bey looks glorious with that natural looking makeup. She also performed her new single “If I Were a Boy“. Check out the vids below!
Shawn Stockman of Boyz II Men, replied to Beyoncé’s new single, “If I Were a Boy” by making a guy’s version of the song and entitling it “If You Were a Boy.”
So, basically he’s saying that Beyoncé should just shut up with that song. Interesting. I think in a way, it was kind of immature to even respond with such a song. And it takes away from Beyoncé’s original message. Sure, not every guy is going to be a jerk, but some are. And not every guy is going to be great but others will. So really, neither song conveys how all guys so I see no point to making another song that doesn’t relate to every man on the planet. What do you think of Shawn’s response?
According to the Hip Hop Chronicle, rapper Kanye West has said that Rihanna’s boom of success was a great gift to R&B star, Beyoncé Knowles.
He supposedly was quoted as saying, “Rihanna was the best thing to happen to Beyoncé.” Suggesting that the huge popularity that Rihanna received, caused Bey to make better music and set the bar higher for female musicians.
Who knows? If this story is at all true, then I can’t disagree with what Kanye said. Maybe having a little healthy competition did make Beyoncé make even more awesome tunes, or maybe she just created all that goodness because she’s a great artist. Either way, I’m happy to hear her voice on the radio.
Beyoncé Knowles has recently told reporters that she has high hopes for eventually performing at the Glastonbury Festival. After her husband Jay-Z, who had caused loads of controversy, performed and did well at the event, Beyoncé was inspired to want to perform at the festival.
She said, “I thought it was brilliant. Jay had all the controversy - but he came out and he did good. I was there to experience the energy, it was like something I have never experienced before. It would be really amazing… I would love to do it.”
What do you guys think? Should Beyoncé perform at Glasto next year? I’m sure Noel Gallagher is just thrilled.
If you were counting on seeing photos from newlyweds, Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s wedding, you better not get your hopes up because it’s just simply out of the question for the songstress and her hubby. Even though they’re refusing to show us the mysterious wedding pictures, Queen Bee couldn’t hold back the surprise as magazines offered huge amounts of money for them.
“Now, they offer crazy money that’s just ridiculous,” she laughed. “But in the end, absolutely not. It’s so not worth it. If anything, if you wanna put something out, then put it out, not for (money).”
She explains further how the couple, married in April 2008, like to keep their life on the quiet side. “We worked really hard at keeping it private. I’ve always been this way, and he’s always been this way, so that’s why we complement each other. We always knew that it would be private and quiet, for all the right reasons.”
They do deserve their privacy. I’m really happy that they’ve been one of the more successful couples in achieving a low profile relationship. So many couples don’t have that quietness, but then again most of them are the ones who don’t try very hard to stay out of the spotlight.
Hey guys! Have you heard that Beyoncé won Outstanding Contribution to the Arts last night at the 2008 World Music Awards? Isn’t that exciting?! She definitely deserved it! Bey’s baby sister, Solange Knowles, was also there. It seems she had a performance at the show, but I haven’t been able to find any videos.
Bey opened the awards show by performing her new singles “If I Were a Boy” and “Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It).” The video only includes the performance from “If I Were a Boy”, so if I see better quality videos I’ll be sure to put them up! Also look for pics from their appearance after the jump.
Beyoncé Knowles will be opening the 20th Annual World Music Awards tonight in Monte Carlo at 3:30 p.m. ET. The event will be hosted by Jesse Metcalfe from “Desperate Housewives” along with former Destiny’s Child member, Michelle Williams!
Isn’t that awesome?! Beyoncé Knowles is being featured in the soon-to-be released XBox 360 game, “Lips.”
It’s a karaoke game, allowing you to sing along to great music and play instruments. There are 40 songs on the CD and, of course, since the playlist of songs centers around good music, it’s only natural that Beyoncé would have some tracks on there. Her 2006 hit “Irreplaceable” and the 2001 Destiny’s Child single “Survivor” are among the many choices.
