Beyoncé “Sweet Dreams” Music Video Released!

July 9, 2009 by Lauren Croteau

Yay! Finally, the video for Beyoncé’s newest single, “Sweet Dreams” has been released! The diva is releasing this single as the sixth song off of her double-disc album “I Am…Sasha Fierce”, which she is  currently promoting on tour. Originally, the song was leaked and was titled “Beautiful Nightmare” however, they later changed the name with the release of the album.sweet dreams

Apparently, it is the first time she’s had a song be leaked before it’s release on the album. The sixth released single was supposed to be for “Broken-Hearted Girl” but they decided to release “Sweet Dreams.” The song is currently being used in a Japanese commercial for Crystal Geyser.

The music video unfortunately wasn’t finished fast enough to be released on Bey’s CD/DVD called “Above and Beyonce: Dance Mixes” although you do get to see a little behind-the-scenes of it. Adria Petty directed the music video. She’s also responsible for the direction of Duffy’s video “Mercy.” Beyoncé herself said she was pretty happy about how the video turned out.

I like it. I think it’s unique from some of the other videos that you might see on MTV. The dancing gets a little hoochie a couple times, but it’s all good because at least she’s showing off those toned thighs! I like the different styles she has in the video, and the song itself is catchy and fun. It’s a great song for summer! Let me know what you guys think!

Beyoncé Named Best Paid Celebrity Under 30 by Forbes!

July 7, 2009 by Lauren Croteau

Yesterday, Forbes magazine released their list of the Best-Paid Celebrities Under 30. Coming in at #1 on the list is Beyoncé Knowles! The singer earned an amazing total of $87 million!!  That is nearly double the sipaphotostwo434806-CA-2009-BET-AWA_beyonceincome of Kimi Raikkonen, who came in second place with $45 million.

Forbes said of 27-year-old Beyoncé,

In the last year, Queen B dropped a double album, starred in two films, performed at both the Oscars and a Presidential Inaugural Ball and embarked on what is expected to be, at minimum, a 110-date international tour. She also expanded a fashion collection that includes casual and formal lines as well as jewelry and eyeglasses, and added sponsors Nintendo, Crystal Geyser and General Mills to a roster of endorsers already including L’Oréal, Giorgio Armani and Samantha Thavasa handbags.

My goodness! Looking at it all laid out like that is insane! The woman really does work like an animal. She’s accomplished so much and she is still at a young age! It’s just an example to setting your mind to something and believing in yourself. At least she says she’ll be taking a two year break in the future, because I think she does need to take a break.  With her and Jay-Z’s income they are living the really, really good life.

Beyoncé Pays Tribute to Michael Jackson

July 7, 2009 by Lauren Croteau

Last night, at a show in New Orleans for her “I Am…” tour, Beyoncé Knowles decided to dedicated a segment of the show in memory of Michael Jackson who has died at the age of 50, who’s memorial takes 90305W10_JACKSON_B_GR_01place today.

After singing several of her hits at the Superdome, the singer dedicated her hit single “Halo” to the King of Pop. On the big screen they showed video of Beyoncé at the age of 5, trying to do her best impression of Michael. During this Beyoncé said, "That’s when I decided who I wanted to be."

Beyoncé also said, "Michael thank you so much for teaching me so much. We all miss you. We thank you for all the beautiful memories. Thank you bringing our families together. Thank you for giving us all those great times. We love you. There will only be one Michael Jackson. Long live the king."

Also, she replaced some of the lyrics in her song “Halo” to better fit the way she felt. She sang, “Michael I can see your Halo. I pray your music won’t fade away.”

Aw! That is sweet. I’m still having a hard time processing that he’s really gone. It is so unbelievably sad. No one will ever be him.

Are any of you going to watch his memorial service this afternoon?

Beyoncé To Play Nun in “Sister Act” Movie?

July 6, 2009 by Lauren Croteau

It sounds like we just might be seeing a remake of the 1992 version of the film “Sister Act” sometime soon. This time, replacing Whoopi Goldberg, who played Sister Mary Clarence would be Beyoncé Knowles. Apparently, ever since seeing the musical live, Beyoncé is trying to work with Disney to see if they can pump out a 2011 remake.

A source says of the possible remake, “Beyonce has asked her representatives to persuade Disney to develop the show into a film vehicle for her.”

The source continues, “If this comes to pass, she would take on, in musical form, the part Whoopi Goldberg creates in the 1992 ‘Sister Act’ film, although the stage version moves the action from the West Coast to Philadelphia.”

Well, um, that would be certainly be interesting. I don’t really see a need for remake of the film version of the musical, but that’s just my opinion. I just don’t see something like that being successful. Plus, Beyoncé as a nun?! Something tells me that just doesn’t work together ;).  What do you guys think? Should Beyoncé star in the remake for this film?

Beyoncé Launching Sasha Fierce Clothing Line

July 2, 2009 by Lauren Croteau

Beyoncé is taking it to a whole new level by introducing a new line of clothing for kids. Her clothing line with mother Tina Knowles by the name of “House of Deréon” did not quite do as well they might have hoped so they are now taking a new approach to fashion.90628A1_KNOWLES_B_B-GR_01

So, what’s this newest project? It’s a new clothing line by the name of “Sasha Fierce”, Beyoncé’s “fiercer” alter ego. The line will be for back-to-school clothing and will be somewhat inspired by Thierry Mugler, who designed the costumes for her more recent tour, “I Am…”. Though, it is inspired by this designer it also differs from it because it is less subdued and more oriented on showcasing accessories.

You can expect: “…a one-shoulder dress, black bodysuit, fake leather jacket with oversize collar, leggings, and destructed jeans with mesh and lace details lining the ripped material.”

Tina has described the accessories as “really over-the-top.” Everything is expected to be oversized, metallic and embellished. There is no word as to what type of price range we might be expecting and when we’ll be seeing these items on the market.

I don’t know about this. I mean, yes it sounds like a fun idea, but let’s just hope that this fashion line stays age appropriate. We’ll see how that works out! If they’re able to keep it looking fashionable, appropriate and affordable, I don’t see why the line wouldn’t do well!

Man Proposes During “Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It) at Beyoncé Concert

July 1, 2009 by Lauren Croteau

On Monday, Beyoncé was in Florida at the BankAtlantic Center performing for her “I Am” Tour, where she helped a man propose to his girlfriend during her song “Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It).” Apparently, during upiphotos946158-BET-Awards_Beyonce this song, she was in the middle of singing when she suddenly stopped. The lights went out and Bey said, “I need a light” which was followed by the illumination of a spot light.

She tells the audience, “I’m not sure if production knows about this but Lindell has something he wants to sing.” She handed the mic to a man in the audience who said, “Beyonce, you told me if I like it, I need to put a ring on it.”

He dropped to one knee and pulled out a ring, followed by him asking his girlfriend to marry him. Let me remind you that this is a  20,000+ crowd. His girlfriend nodded and said yes to the proposal, to which the crowd went wild over.

How awesome is that?! That is just too cute!! I bet everyone was a bit worried during the whole production of the lights going out and I can’t imagine what his girlfriend must have been thinking when he took that microphone. Everyone deserves to be proposed to like that!

Beyoncé Accepts Awards at 2009 BET Awards - Videos

June 29, 2009 by Lauren Croteau

Last night Beyoncé “Sasha Fierce” Knowles was in attendance at the 2009 BET Awards (see her red carpet photos here) and was hoping to win a few awards. Luckily for her, the singer walked away with two of them! Her first award was for Female R&B Artist of the Year. Bey was up against Keyshia Cole, Keri Hilson, Jennifer Hudson and Jazmine Sullivan. During her acceptance speech for this award she took the time to thank Michael Jackson for inspiring her to be who she is now. On a lighter note, Jamie Foxx came up to her right after she was done and told her to follow him. He sat her down and she looked so scared and confused. I think all he wanted to show her was that Jay-Z’s performance was coming up.

Then, she accepted the award for Video of the Year for her “Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It)” video! Yay! Of course it had to win! No other music video in the past year has had the effect on people that hers has. She deserved it. Congrats to her for walking out of there with two awards! Take a look at her acceptance video below!

Beyoncé Performs “Ave Maria” and “Angel” at BET Awards in Memory of Michael Jackson

June 29, 2009 by Lauren Croteau

The 2009 BET Awards were bittersweet event as artists were recognized for their work as they mourned the loss of possibly the best artist in African-American history, Michael Jackson. Michael, who likely inspired everyone in the room, passed away this week at the age of 50. In memory of him, Beyoncé Knowles sang “Ave Maria” and “Angel.” Bey has worn the costumes that she wore on stage tonight throughout every show of her “I Am…” Tour.

As can be expected, Bey sounded great. You could definitely here some of the emotion she had towards the end of the song. I can”t imagine singing a song in dedication to Michael Jackson. I think that’d be hard for most people who appreciate him. Here is the video:

Beyoncé on the Red Carpet at the 2009 BET Awards

June 29, 2009 by Lauren Croteau

Yesterday, the 2009 BET Awards were held at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California. Beyoncé Knowles hit the red carpet and boy was she ever looking colorful. I’m not liking it much at all. In a way I found it all too much, while at the same time it was too little. I do like that she was showing off her body and embracing what she’s got, but I would have chosen something a little less short and a little less overwhelming. What did you think? Was Bey rocking it on the red carpet tonight?
